Well, the series expands…

(35+ yr. old component from a lapsed project begins its new kit-bashing journey…) Early-stage mosaic patterning and configuring. Third dimensional sketching. Scanning subsets of blocks for later transpositional mosaic arrays. One of myriad block arrays. Inkjet-to-real rough color test. Real-to-virtual color calibrations. Inkjet print is incised, folded and burnished onto surfaces. Mosaic print glued to surround. Inevitably, some custom (read hand-) cutting and pasting is required. (Detail) Bottom left corners. Introducing Salvator Mundi’s stand-in to surround. Toying around with blocks; experimenting w/ depth cue antagonisms between 3-dimensional elements and illusory BG. Things can get complex quickly and quickly complex. Hundreds of blocks and no two identical. Architectural inklings begin their emergence. Experiments w/ intermix of 3D “authentic” and “illusory”printed blocks. Luverly Little Laser-cuts. Even heightened levels of accuracy have (error) tolerances, no? A Landscape of Digital Conformity. Thankful that I numerically labeled the multitude of components. Final lenticular’s proxy serves for color proximation. Representatives of analog and digital worlds peacefully commingling. Batch of column elements racked for painting. Sometime within the painting process. Probably around mid-point. Penultimate color pass; toward Pisa tower coloration (w/ just a trace of Sienna lighting). Assemblies of potential column patterns.
