bewareDictators
[2022]
As autocrats around the world tighten their grip on power (and presumably their very expensive wristwatches), this piece aims to present a whole squad of them together—like a greatest-hits album, except the hits are… tyranny.
Think of it as a visual chart of fascist facial familiarities.
After countless hours of Photoshop-staring directly into the headshots of these sinister pukes, I can report an unsettling pattern:
When there’s evil inside, it often shows up in the eyes.
Also: this particular lineup is filtered to focus on modern notorious demagogues from outside U.S. borders.
Materials: Acid-free paper, lenticular ink-jet prints, UV-filtering plexiglas, UV-protected matte medium, birch plywood
Dimensions: 26.75″W × 28.375″H × 2″D
Note: Photographing lenticular imagery is famously difficult, and tends to produce unavoidable fuzziness and optical interference thanks to refracted sub-image Moiré banding. (In other words: cameras also find this stuff annoying.)
